How it works · 3 steps

From booking your flight to landing in Shanghai — in one weekend.

Most travelers don't need 3 months to plan a China trip. They need 30 minutes and someone they can trust on the ground.

1

Tell us your dates

Pick a city, drag a slider for days (1–6), select your interests. No account needed to start.

~ 1 minute
2

AI builds your trip

Hour-by-hour itinerary with restaurant picks, hidden gems, and a China survival guide for payments, taxis, and translation.

Book a local guide

Real, verified locals meet you at the airport. They speak your language and handle the things apps can't.

The 4 things that break first-time visitors

You don't need another travel app.
You need someone who actually shows up.

144 hours sounds short. It feels even shorter when WeChat won't take your card, the taxi driver doesn't speak English, and Google Maps doesn't work.

Payment chaos

WeChat Pay and Alipay don't accept most foreign cards. Cash is dying. ATMs charge fees up to $7.

→ Your guide pays, we settle later

Language wall

Google Translate is blocked. Most taxi drivers and small shop owners speak almost zero English.

→ Live human translator on call 24/7

Getting around

Uber doesn't work. Didi needs a Chinese phone number. Subway signs are half in Chinese only.

→ Pre-booked transfers + Didi-via-us

Booking everything

Forbidden City, Great Wall, top restaurants — all require Chinese ID + WeChat to reserve.

→ We pre-book everything before you fly
"Got picked up at PVG at 2am after a 14-hour flight. Lin was holding a sign with my name. I almost cried. Worth every penny."

Common questions

Answered honestly. No travel-brochure fluff.

What exactly is the 144-hour visa-free policy?
China lets citizens of 54 countries enter visa-free for up to 144 hours (6 days) if you're transiting between two other countries. You enter from one country, leave for a different country. Most major airports (Shanghai PVG, Beijing PEK, Chengdu CTU, etc.) qualify. We have a full guide to who qualifies and how to use it.
Is the AI itinerary actually any good?
Honest answer: it's a starting point, not a finished product. The AI gets you 80% there in 30 seconds — realistic times, opening hours, sensible routing. Then you chat with it ("I don't eat spicy food", "swap day 2 for something quieter") and it updates. If you book a guide, they'll review your itinerary the day before and flag anything weird before you fly.
What if I don't want a guide — can I just use the AI?
Yes. The AI itinerary is free. You can download a PDF, follow it on your own, and we'll send you a "China Survival Kit" with VPN setup, payment workarounds, and a basic phrasebook. The guide is an add-on for travelers who want peace of mind.
How are the guides vetted?
Every guide goes through: ID verification, language test (English minimum CEFR B2), 30-minute video interview, reference checks, and a paid trial trip with one of our team members posing as a traveler. We currently accept about 1 in 8 applicants.
What's your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your guide booking starts. Within 48 hours, we refund 50%. If your flight is cancelled or delayed beyond your control, we refund 100% — just send us the airline notice.
